What your unit will do, will keep that fixed aiming point and always aim at it while walking the path. This is done by pressing the shift button and right mouse button and drag a fixed aiming point for your unit. In open spaces try and round corners not so tight. This is why is better to use pistols when you want to be close to walls when rounding corners in closed spaces. There is an animation which shows this while they are near a wall. Note that you cannot take tight corners with riffles as they will pull the riffle to non aim position if they are facing the wall. This can be helpfull when your unit is rounding a corner, You can have them facing the direction of the corner before they round it and engage immediately with enemies after passing it. This is done by pressing ctrl and the right mouse button and aim to the direction you want your unit to face while walking a pathline. This will only make the unit turn a few seconds and then proceed on its designated path facing the path.
